Catie joined BCA in October 2017, and has been working with children on the autism spectrum since June 2015 servicing New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties.
Catie earned her BA in Psychology and MA in Clinical Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis from UNC Wilmington, in Wilmington, NC. She received her BCBA Certification in February 2016. Catie has presented posters and discussions at NCABA in Asheville NC, and ABAI in San Antonio Texas and Chicago Illinois.
Catie enjoys utilizing both Early Intervention strategies along with behavior reduction strategies to not only reduce problem behaviors, but also to provide alternative replacement behaviors. Catie’s experience in the behavior analytic field began with basic experimental research centered around the study of symbolic relations and language. This foundation in research highlighted the importance of strengthening functional communication skills. Catie also has experience in a clinic to treat pediatric feeding disorders. This training provides a model for both behavior reduction and skill acquisition in the home, school, or clinic setting.
